Rick,

Thanks for your reply.

wwipstuff.cMailServer is set to "mail.btconnect.com" which is the mailserver at BT, the school's ISP. For many years this has worked fine, with staff using the VFP app to send out emails from any computer on the network.

Now the network support people have changed the default gateway on all computers, so that all browser traffic is forced to go through the proxy server and therefore the Sophos internet content filtering - obviously important for a school.

However, the .SendMail now does not now work, and this is not an area where I am a great expert!

As an alternative, I have tried setting .cMailServer to "10.1.0.19" which is the school's network Exchange server, and I then get a "550 5.7.1 Unable to relay" error.

Any further thoughts on either of these approaches?

Thanks,

David.

Email doesn't usually go through proxies. I've never seen an email client that allows configuration for email proxy settings. You should be able to use the proxy's IP address and port in order to connect to the server and that should work the same as a direct connection...

In a VFP9 app I have in a school, I use SendMail from wwipstuff to send emails out. wwipstuff is from a full version of WebConnect v4.68 (although I have never used it to run a website).

SendMail has been working fine for several years, but now, for security purposes, the school has reconfigured the network so that all outgoing traffic has to go through a proxy server. SendMail now gives an error and cannot connect to the ISP's SMTP server.

Do I need to tell wwipstuff about the proxy server settings, and if so how would I do that?

Thanks for any advice,
